Help us make Various Voices an accessible festival!
Inclusivity is one of our festival's core values. That's why we want to ensure that everyone feels welcome, regardless of their accessibility needs.
10 September 2025
Just under 10% of festival-goers expressed accessibility needs when registering. These needs vary: people in wheelchairs, people who cannot stand for long periods of time or have difficulty climbing stairs, people who are visually impaired or blind, etc.
We want to meet these needs as best we can by providing clear information and making the necessary adjustments.
That is why we have signed a contract with Access-i.
Access-i is an organisation recognised by the Belgian authorities. Its role is to help cultural operators make their events accessible.
In practice, Access-i will audit all our concert halls (both for public access and artist access) and other festival venues, as well as the paths connecting them.
Following this audit, Acces-i will issue recommendations to improve the accessibility of the venues.
All useful information for each venue and location will be available on a dedicated website linked to the festival website. See, for example, here what Acces-i had put in place for Brussels Pride 2025.
People with accessibility needs will therefore receive clear information well in advance so that they can plan their trip as effectively as possible.
How can you help?
In order to finance the necessary investments (such as the installation of a lift or an access ramp to the stage), our team has submitted a funding application to Cap 48.
Cap 48 is a charity run by RTBF (Belgian French-speaking public radio and television) that helps people with disabilities. In Brussels, we will be participating in their annual fundraising campaign, which will take place at the end of September.
If this cause is close to your heart, you can also contribute by making a donation. Your donation will not directly benefit the festival. It will be added to the total donations received and redistributed by Cap 48. We will not have an answer to our funding request until next spring, but your donation will show that the festival and its participants consider this cause to be essential.
