WEIBrations
Show, glitter, cheeky lyrics set to familiar melodies – that’s what Die WEIBrations are best known for. For the 25 singers and their choir director Eva Hilfinger, the quality of the choral singing and a high-level choral sound are just as important as an entertaining concert programme.
In 1994, founded in the living room of our then choir director we took to the stage one year later, still shy and dressed in normal clothes, and sang our entire repertoire – three songs! In the meantime, we have made a name for ourselves beyond the lesbian scene… and have learned a few more songs. Among the exciting experiences were participating in Various Voices Festivals in London, Dublin, Munich and Bologna, in the opening ceremony for the 300th anniversary of our hometown Karlsruhe in 2015 or performing on a German TV show. But we also love the quieter concerts, such as the one at a Rainbow nursing home in Frankfurt. 2024 we celebrated our 30th anniversary with a grand concert.
We have already participated in Various Voices in London, Dublin, Munich and Bologna, and are now looking forward to another special event! We are very excited to meet our Belgian hosts, hear international choirs perform at beautiful venues and help shape the programme! The encounters off stage are always inspiring, fun and often lead to new choir friendships. We can hardly wait!
