The Friends of Dorothy
The Friends of Dorothy is a Finnish queer a cappella group that mixes art and activism with their own unique style. On stage, FroDo radiates energy, attitude, and freedom, and their distinctive sound leaves audiences gasping for more. FroDo’s attitude is lyrical punk.
The idea for the band was sparked in 2017 at the first Queertune festival in Helsinki. Our repertoire spans from folk songs sung in minority languages through classical music to Eurovision pop. FroDo’s concerts also include LGBTQIA+ activism in the form of ‘Spoken Word’. We take human rights very seriously. We want to learn and listen to the marginalized groups among us and in our society. Finns are often thought of as being quiet, but in our case, there is always some laughter, talking and singing going on; for example “Skååål”. You’ll know what that’s all about at the end of the festival! It is a promise! If you see 5 giggling, bubbly singers talking this very odd language, come and say hi.
Various Voices Brussels 2026 is an opportunity to celebrate equality, to be seen as your true self, to defend human rights, and to come together with the international rainbow family in one of the European Parliament’s core cities.
