Spreediven
The Spreediven are Berlin’s lesbian choir for waves, music, and joy! Since 2001, 16 singers led by Antje Hagen-Franz are sailing through pop, jazz, and classic – and we love to party, flirt and dance together.
The Spreediven are always searching for the next musical wave – and we try to express that in our outfits too. Once it went hilariously wrong: we all wore sea-blue wigs, hoping to look like fabulous queer waves. Instead? We looked like Smurfs! We’re Berlin’s lesbian choir, 17 singers strong since 2001 – young and old, with different hair colors (yes, sometimes wig-blue!), with or without kids. Under Antje Hagen-Franz’s direction, we’ve grown musically while keeping our spirit alive. We’re about singing, and pure joy! Beyond rehearsals, we party, flirt, write lyrics, and join actions like the Dyke March. Our sound? Pop, jazz, classical, rap, folk. After practice, we often stay until sunrise, laughing and dreaming together.
We’re thrilled to be performing at VV in Brussels – and honestly? It’s huge for us. As a lesbian choir from Berlin, getting to perform at this queer festival means we’re part of something bigger: a community celebrating authentic voices and visibility. It’s our chance to connect with other queer artists, share our music, and show what we’re all about. Plus, festivals like this remind us why we sing together in the first place – for pride, joy, and belonging.
