Singing Proud Nottingham
Singing Proud Nottingham, an LGBTQ+ Community Choir, formed in 2021. We love singing and growing together as a choir, especially songs representative of our LGBTQ+ community. Inclusive and accessible to everyone in our community, also supporting local LGBTQ+ persons seeking asylum and refuge.
Singing Proud Nottingham have come a long way from their formation after the first covid lockdown in 2021, an important moment for people to come together. Initially, from singing whilst wearing masks and being socially distanced, to now being able to sing together and share cake during our breaks in rehearsals, we are a loving, supportive community of people who have a lot of laughs and fun along the way. At times cake seems almost as important as the singing. Annually, we are invited to sing at several different events including Nottingham Pride each summer. We also have a three-day residential each year which brings our community even closer together.
This is Singing Proud Nottingham’s first Various Voices! We are so excited to attend the Brussels 2026 festival. To have the opportunity to experience the magic and power of our LGBTQ+ community coming together en masse, but also our voices resonating in glorious song, will be amazing.
