Rainbow Voices
Rainbow Voices is the West Midlands most fabulous LGBTQ+ community choir, united by our love of song and still going strong after 30 years! We rehearse in Birmingham, but members come from far and wide.
We recently celebrated 3 decades of song with our 30th Anniversary Concert at the Birmingham Royal Conservatoire. Since 1995 we’ve had 8 Musical Directors; 217 performances including 41 own concerts, World AIDS Day, Pride and other LGBTQ+ /community events; backed Lulu live on stage twice; were the first ever LGBTQ+ group to appear on children’s BBC TV programme ‘Blue Peter’; and sang in the Commonwealth Games Handover and Opening Ceremonies in 2018 and 2022. We’ve sung in Belfast, Paris, London, Dublin, Edinburgh and elsewhere with Various Voices, Hand in Hand and as guests of other choirs. Choir is also a safe social space, leading to countless friendships and quite a few relationships!
Returning to Various Voices after 17 years absence will be a momentous occasion especially as we will be showcasing music from the Midlands including two members’ compositions. Singing with like minded people is important to our well being and brings great joy, so to do that on at an international level with the wider LGBTQ+ community in historic Brussels will be fun, educational and incredibly special. We can’t wait for this amazing experience to be with our wider chosen family!
