Queer ImproVoices Cologne

Queer ImproVoices Cologne creates its arrangements together, without sheet music, a conductor, or fixed voices. This allows everyone to contribute their own unique voice, regardless of sex, gender, or vocal range. We want to build bridges—from person to person, from ear to ear, from heart to heart.

From 2010 to 2024, the rainbow-colored Queer ImproVoices Cologne developed a special form of communal singing as the “Gay and Lesbian Choir Cologne” with great enthusiasm and a willingness to experiment. Singing by ear often surprises not only the audience but also ourselves. And our new name says it all: whether trans, cis, or inter, whether lesbian, gay, or bi, this type of singing rewards with a wonderfully diverse vocal and group experience.

For us, meeting so many queer choirs is always a great pleasure! We look forward to musical and friendly exchanges with people who live and feel similarly to us. We are extremely curious about the music and performances of the other choirs! With our own songs, featuring lyrics by Ursula Neumann and music by Jürgen Terhag, we want to encourage queer people to be open about their lives and loves and to stand proud!
