Formed in 1983, The Pink Singers are Europe’s oldest choir, formed of 90+ singers. Now a registered charity, they exist to promote the love and appreciation of music among the LGBTQ+ community and to promote equality and raise awareness of LGBTQ+ issues in wider society.

We’ve had a pretty busy time since Various Voices in Bologna! We celebrated our 40th birthday with a new commission “Home Made Musical Hope Machine”, with lyrics based on the choir’s archives. We made a podcast telling the story of the choir’s history called “Sing It Pink”. We’ve performed in concerts big and small in London and around the UK. We’ve collaborated with some amazing other choirs including Voces Gaudii, The Proud Marys and F*Choir. We’ve taken part in a reimagining of Bronski Beat’s important Age of Consent album and, most recently, we supported Coldplay with backing vocals at all 12 of the UK performances of their recent world tour.

Various Voices is one of the highlights of the choir’s calendar! The opportunity to spend time amongst the larger LGBTQ+ choral movement, and all its amazing choirs and communities, is a pretty special experience, especially when we all join voices to sing together.
