EQUIVOX – le choeur LGBTQIA+ de Paris
Equivox, founded in 1989, is France’s largest LGBT+ choir with over 80 singers. 🎶 Blending pop, classical, and variety music—piano or a cappella—with non-gendered voice parts, it’s a safe, joyful space for all sexual and gender diversities, proudly advocating LGBTQIA+ rights. 🌈✊
Equivox Choir was founded in 1989 by friends inspired by the Vancouver Gay Games, aiming to bring together gay men and lesbians in a musical and inclusive community. It became the third LGBT choir in Europe and the first built on a founding principle of gender parity across all its boards and committees, rooted in a feminist vision. Today, Equivox performs around ten concerts a year with 80 singers. The choir takes part in activist and festive events in Paris, across rural France and throughout Europe, sharing its message of diversity and pride. Equivox also supports charity events, donating proceeds to organizations defending LGBTQIA+ rights and social causes.
Various Voices is a unique chance for Equivox to unite with LGBTQIA+ choirs across Europe, sharing music, pride, and solidarity. More than concerts, it’s about friendship, visibility, and celebrating our identities together. This festival is dear to us, as Equivox proudly co-hosted Various Voices Paris 2005 with Les Mélo’Men
