Diversity
Diversity is London’s original LBGT+ chamber choir, set up in 1992. We perform a wide variety of joyful music from ABBA to Rachmaninov, and from traditional choral music to musical theatre. Our four-part harmony choir has over 50 members and is an inclusive community. We exist to bring different music to new audiences, support the community and make singing fun. Our ambition is to grow the choir so we can reach wider audiences, support more community events and provide more opportunities for new members to experience the great atmosphere and sound at our concerts, usually twice a year.
Having been formed in 1992 as London’s original LGBT+ chamber choir, Diversity celebrated our 30th anniversary in 2022. We usually perform at two main concerts: one at Christmas and one in summer. We support our communities by singing at public events, including the Soho Act of Remembrance and Hate Crime Awareness Week, and enjoy successful collaborations with other choirs and orchestras. We have been going to Various Voices and Hand in Hand festivals for many years. A particular highlight was being one of the host choirs for Various Voices London in 2009, when we loved welcoming other choirs to our city. Although things have not always gone according to plan, such as when our Musical Director found himself locked out of the performance venue in Munich and a choir member had to step up and conduct the first piece, we have always had a blast at Various Voices.
We can’t wait to join our friends and fellow singers from across Europe and the world at Various Voices Brussels 2026. There is no substitute for the buzz of sharing songs, stories, and experiences with so many choirs in a city with a rich history, culture, and international population. We look forward to showcasing our own programme and enjoying the performances of our friends, both old and new. Most of all, though, we are excited to raise our voices together in songs that unite us across borders, backgrounds, and beliefs to bring the joy of shared music to those who make it and to those who are listening alike.
