Die Schrillerlocken
Die Schrillerlocken – a bunch of lesbian and straight women who sing together. In the face of the world`s depressing crises, we ask ourselves: What strengthens and encourages us? What attitude do we need? We found answers in the songs we have compiled for our current program: Encouragement
Die Schrillerlocken (Shrill Curls – a play on words that sounds very much like a German fish speciality) were founded in 1987 at the Hamburg Women’s Music Centre. Since then, they have performed many different programs, participated in Various Voices several times, and regularly take part in the LesbianWomenChoirs Meeting in Germany. In 2027, we will organise this meeting in Hamburg with other choirs. We have also worked on two film productions and gained theatre experience. We develop our programs around topics that are important to us. A feminist perspective is always included, often with a touch of humour. Musically, we are open to many styles. Above all, we love singing together
We are looking forward to some great moments on stage and a fun time preparing. We look forward to hearing wonderful choirs performing wonderful music. We want to dance, celebrate and sing. We want to take a break from the straight world and immerse ourselves in singing with the queer community. Singing brings us joy and sets an example for an open and colourful society in which everyone is accepted as a human being. We will certainly bring good energy back to Hamburg.
