Da Capo al dente – queerer Chor Bremen e.V.
Da Capo al dente was founded in 1997. Around 40 singers are currently rehearsing under the direction of Washington de Oliveira. The repertoire ranges from Renaissance to pop across all eras and styles, sometimes with queer rewrites and choreographic presentations.
Da Capo al dente celebrates the joy of music but also frequently shows solidarity with other marginalized groups: supporting people with AIDS, participating in beneficial concerts for refugees, laying a remembrance stone for a queer holocaust victim. And, of course, we are part of the yearly Pride march in Bremen. We enjoy presenting full-length programmes like our concert „Harmony is boundless“, with an audience of 1000 people in Bremen’s most famous concert hall. In 2022, even amidts the still ongoing pandemic, Da Capo al dente successfully hosted the Queer Choir Festival NORDAKKORD with 20 choirs and 500 delegates from several Northern German cities.
Da Capo al dente is proud to once again be part of Various Voices. We see it as a unique opportunity to represent the queer community of our city, and also connect with all the other fabulous choirs from all around Europe and the rest of the world. In our current time, in which the right-wing backlash against human rights is ubiquitous, coming together as a community of passionate, queer singers sparks hope, creates solidarity and helps to organize resistance. We are proud to be here with you!
