Coro Canone Inverso a.p.s.
Canone Inverso is an inclusive a cappella choir from Padua, Italy, led by David W. Benini. We sing contemporary and pop music to promote culture, rights and equality, welcoming all voices and backgrounds and performing at events for LGBTQIA+ rights and social causes.
It all began on a foggy day in 2013, inside Padua’s so-called “gay tower.” On the second floor, where local LGBTQIA+ associations gather, a new choir was born: Canone Inverso — a name that recalls a musical form of two voices in dialogue. Since then, the choir has become a vibrant presence in the city, organizing events now rooted in the community calendar, such as the TDoR (Trans Day of Remembrance) and the Day of Remembrance. Over time, Canone Inverso has built strong bonds with local groups like SAT (Trans Welcoming Service) and Arcigay, amplifying voices, rights, and inclusion through music.
After hosting the Various Voices Italy Tour in Padua before the Bologna venue in 2023, we decided it was time for us to actively take part in the festival! Coming to Brussels means a lot to us: it is a great opportunity to be part of an international manifestation, raising our voices together with singers from all over Europe. It also represents an occasion to challenge ourselves and to perform at a new level. We are proud to sing for LGBTQIA+ rights and to do so in an European capital!
