DIVERDOATSIE! is a project choir from Groningen, the Netherlands, where everyone with an affinity for the LGBTQ+ community is warmly welcomed. Under the direction of Cobien Nieuwpoort, DIVERDOATSIE! has grown into an ultra-mixed choir of more than 40 singers .

On Pink Saturday, June 2024 Diverdoatsie debuted with a piece by composer Jack Curtis Dubowsky at the Groninger Oosterpoort, titled “Harvey Milk: A Cantata.” This piece is based on lyrics by Harvey Milk (the first openly gay San Francisco city council member who was assassinated in 1978). It advocates for acceptance and equal rights for people from the LGBTQ+ community, as well as for minorities in general: “To attack one minority is to attack all minorities.” In 2025 we showed our existence on many different occasions as we are becoming increasingly known, i.e. church services, 80 years of Freedom concerts and LGBTQ+-events. Very special was our concert during the Schnitger organ festival.

In 1995 two choirs from Groningen (The Netherlands) organized the 8th edition of the European Schwul-Lesbische Chorspektakel. They also came up with a new name for the festival: Various Voices. They felt a festival deserves a hymn, so they asked Hanny Diemer and Marijke Harsevoort to write a song about singing and empowerment: this became the ‘Various Voices’ song. These two choirs sang this song again with the newly founded choir DIVERDOATSIE! on Pink Saturday in Groningen in 2024.
