Männer-Minne Schwuler Männerchor Berlin e.V.
“Minne“ is a medieval German expression for “loving remembrance”. The 40 singers of MÄNNER-MINNE, Berlin’s biggest gay choir, have been moving around in this emotional universe since 1987. The choir’s work explores gay life in its many guises, styles and eras, supported by flamboyant choreographies.
“Minne“ is a medieval German expression for “loving remembrance”. It comes in many shapes and sizes. The 40 singers of MÄNNER-MINNE, Berlin’s oldest and biggest gay choir in Berlin, have been moving around in this universe since 1987. The Minne men’s musical work explores many styles and eras, supported by flamboyant choreographies. The paths and perils of gay life in its many guises are explored extensively. We have bravely tackled sensitive issues like the Wild West, biblical mythology, the universe of Brother Grimm’s fairy tales or the diva cult. As we celebrate our 40th birthday in 2027, we’ll present a preview of our anniversary program including beloved classics and brandnew songs.
As early as 1988, the young choir took on the challenge of organizing the 4th European gay and lesbian choir festival. In May 2001, MÄNNER-MINNE was significantly involved in organizing Various Voices in Berlin. We have participated in every edition since the 80’s and simply love this international festival atmosphere. We love to experience the many different colors of LGBTIQ* choir singing. And look forward to many encounters, wild parties and of course to having a lovely time in cosmopolitan Brussels!
