The Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus (AGMC) has been lifting voices and opening hearts in the American South for 45 years. Founded in 1981 as the first LGBTQ+ chorus in the region—and only the fifth in the world—the chorus began as a courageous act of visibility and has grown into a lasting cultural presence. Across decades of change, loss, and progress, AGMC has sung through moments of grief and joy alike, giving voice to a community’s resilience, pride, and hope, and using music to tell the story of who we have been, who we are, and who we are still becoming.

AGMC is a diverse and welcoming community of singers united by the belief that music can build understanding where words fall short. In recent seasons, the chorus’s work has explored themes of belonging, memory, and identity through programs that span Broadway, choral masterworks, and contemporary repertoire, as well as original choral theatre works like When I Was Your Age and TRANSformation, which place lived LGBTQ+ stories at the center of the stage. From its beloved annual holiday concert to deeply personal and socially resonant productions, the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus continues its mission: to inspire dialogue, foster connection, and advance social equity through artistic excellence.

The AGMC had our first taste of Various Voices when 30 of our members sang in Bologna. It was magical to share these musical experiences with choruses from all over Europe and celebrate the LGBTQ+ experience on a global scale. Now we’re bringing over 60 singers to share this life changing, life affirming experience.
