Vocal Presence
Our mission is to provide a musical experience where it is safe and encouraged to be your true self, singing within your natural range and learning to extend this when desired whatever your gender presentation.
Vocal Presence was founded by Transparent Presence after realising that many established choirs do not meet the needs of gender non-conforming people. We avoid using traditional gendered language in choir and therefore our singing parts are given the names ‘tops’. ‘middles’, ‘bottoms’ and ‘power bottoms’. We often have members of our choir performing as their drag persona – you may have Hugo Wilde, Aria Spellbound or Object among us!
The chance to sing and make connections is so uplifting. We are based in Cornwall, UK, which is rural and isolated. There are no queer spaces in the county so Vocal Presence creates a sense of community for our members. Feeling a part of a larger, supportive community will be something special.
