Tapalanote was founded in 2006 within the BGS (Brussels Gay Sports) organisation. Our pop repertoire, directed by Vic Cano, reflects our identity as an LGBTQIA+ choir committed to openness and tolerance. However, our name meaning ‘You’re out of tune’ shows that we also just want to have fun!

Tapalanote organises two concerts a year. Around 1 December, World AIDS Day, we hold our charity concert, “Sing for Life”. We perform with another choir and raise funds for a project that promotes equal and social rights and solidarity. In June, after the annual Brussels Pride, we hold our “Sing for Pride” concert. This show celebrates our identity as a choir that is both committed and fun. We also organise lots of fun activities, such as karaoke and singalong evenings. These get-togethers, where we simply sing for fun with our friends and fans, have become legendary. They also raise extra funds so that all our members can participate in international festivals such as… Various Voices!

Various Voices has always been an important event for our choir — we haven’t missed one edition yet since we discovered it. This festival with its unique ambiance always gives us a boost! We get to know other choirs and come back with lots of new ideas for songs, costumes and choreography. The 2026 edition will be particularly special for us as our ‘sister’ choir, Pélicanto from Strasbourg, will be participating for the first time. This will make the festival even more exciting and fun for us!
