Schwubs – Schwule Berner Sänger
Gay, dazzling, charming! For over 30 years, SCHWUBS – the gay singers from Bern – have thrilled audiences with unforgettable shows at home and abroad. With refined arrangements by Abdiel Montes de Oca, our 20 singers will give their all in Brussels. Be our guest and enjoy us acoustically and visually!
In 1992, SCHWUBS was founded and has been thrilling audiences with its shows for over 30 years. From initially 11 singers, the choir grew at times to 43 members; today there are 20 – we’re working on multiplying! SCHWUBS is playful, ironic, critical, creative, plays with gender roles, interprets gay life, and also likes to hold up a mirror to others. In full-evening programs, the choir transports audiences to ever-new worlds: from the great stages (“Varieté”) through the colorful retirement home (“Golden Boys”), fairytale chaos (“Verzaubert”), mysterious puzzles around a millionaire (“Grand Hotel”), to shipwreck in the South Seas (“Tonga”) in its latest program.
For SCHWUBS, taking part in VV 2026 in Brussels is more than just another performance. It is a celebration of visibility, pride, and solidarity within the international LGBTQ+ choral community. After 30 years of bringing joy, charm, and energy, we see this festival as a chance to connect with singers from across Europe and beyond, to share our story, and to be inspired by the diversity of voices and styles. For us, Brussels is both a stage and a chance to build friendships.
