Rozenkoor
The oldest gay-lesbian-bi+ choir of Amsterdam was founded in 1992. With 22 singers we sing merry classical songs, serious popsongs, and all that lies in between; every song with a gay touch. Performed in a variety of theatrical settings: dramatic, tragic and funny. In short: we are Very Various.
Our choir was founded 34 years ago; the choir members of today were founded somewhat earlier. Over time our performances changed from static singing with sheetmusic to dynamic theatrical performances. Highlights: We sing a gay version of our national anthem. Joining the opening ceremony of the Gay Games in the Amsterdam Arena Stadium and our performance in the Concertgebouw. Our performance in 2006 for the 5th anniversary of the legalisation of same sex marriages in the Netherlands. Our performance on the big pink marble triangle of the gaymonument in Amsterdam. Joining the Canal Parade on top of a canal boat. We have had quite some choir couples, not to mention the secret crushes and jealousies.
This is the 5th time that we perform at VV. Some of our best memories of VV’s in the past: Our spontaneous performance under the Eifeltower in Paris. The striptease of the conductor when we were singing ‘Steam heat’ in London. Our street performances in Dublin. Singing the Carmina Burana with hundreds singers on a big square in München. We are looking forward to experiencing this unique festival again in Brussels and to immerse in a rainbow coloured world and meet other singers from other countries
