Pelicanto, the LGBT+ choir of Alsace, has united about fifty singers from all backgrounds for over twenty years. Through our pop and committed repertoire, we celebrate diversity, fight discrimination, and make music a space for connection, joy, and inclusion.

Each year, we create a show combining mostly pop songs and theater, similar in style to a musical. Each show revolves around a strong theme, such as conversion therapy, illness, ecology, trans identity, the art of drag, or aging. These are committed themes that invite the audience to reflect and question, but always in a joyful, positive, and humorous way. Alongside this, Pelicanto is involved throughout the year in numerous cultural and activist projects, such as the Musica Festival, Strasbourg’s Christmas markets, the World Forum for Democracy, the queer festival Divercity, and the Conference on Violence Against Women.

Thanks to the festival’s global reach, we will be able to give even greater visibility to our commitments and struggles. Uniting our voices means carrying together the values of diversity, freedom, and equality. Various Voices is also a chance to meet kindred choirs, discover their worlds, and share our struggles in a festive and joyful spirit. For us, Various Voices is also a way to experience Brussels differently, with the opportunity to sing in the city’s historic venues.
