Loud & Proud is Scotland’s longest-running LGBTQI+ community choir. Based in Edinburgh, we sing a unique blend of Scottish folk, classical choral, show tunes, queer anthems and more – all a cappella, and from the heart!

Loud & Proud is a mixed-voice a cappella choir led by Dr Kathleen Cronie. It started in 2004, as a ten-week singing course at an LGBTQ+ community centre in Edinburgh. Initial numbers were low – at one point it was only three of us! From those humble beginnings we’ve grown to a choir of 60 singers, and we’ve sung everywhere from wee pubs to grand concert halls, Edinburgh Castle and the Scottish Parliament – and in cities around the UK and Europe. Loud & Proud recently celebrated our 20th birthday. We threw a big party for choir members past and present – and we curated a collection of hundreds of photos capturing our history, including many VV memories! We’re excited to make lots more.

Loud & Proud has been involved in VV for nearly two decades, and it’s been a true source of joy and community for us over the years. We’re delighted to be back for a fifth time, once again bringing a bit of Scotland to the festival. A gathering like this – which celebrates diversity, reminds us of all we have in common, and connects us in solidarity across borders – has never been more vital and precious. We can’t wait to let our hearts be heard together in Brussels – loudly and proudly, aye!
