Helsingin Queer-feministinen kuoro
Helsinki Queer Feminist Choir (est. 2021) sings queer classics and original songs exploring queer and feminist themes. In 2025–26, HQFK is conducted by Iiro Ollila, whose passion for choral improvisation shines on the Various Voices stage.
HQFK was founded mid-COVID by a group of friends who wanted to make and perform music together in a queer-feminist context. Since its first performance with 8 singers, HQFK has grown into a formidable community of 35 singers, who strive to tell queer stories and promote feminist themes of equality and inclusivity. The choir has traveled to meet our peers in Europe, and in turn hosted guests from Estonia and the UK, among others. Fun fact: a significant percentage of HQFK singers are also stand up comedians! So we may just be the funniest queer choir in Europe.
It means an opportunity to connect with our peers abroad and relish the unique sense of community and artistic freedoms queer music events provide.
