Dublin Gay Men’s Chorus
Established in 2012, Dublin Gay Men’s Chorus (DGMC) is one of the finest choirs in Ireland, showcasing the unique sound of an all-male choir. DGMC prides itself on both technical excellence and a diverse approach to repertoire. The choir is a safe space for gay men and actively fosters a strong sense of community among its 70+ members. DGMC is led by Music Director Duncan Brickenden.
DGMC has performed at some of Ireland’s most prestigious venues, including the iconic Gate Theatre; Áras an Uachtaráin, the official residence of the President of Ireland; Leinster House, the Irish Parliament, to mark the 30th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality; and the National Concert Hall, alongside the RTÉ, the national State broadcaster, Concert Orchestra. The choir has attended many national and international LGBT+ choral festivals and competitions, including the Navan Choral Festival (2025), where it won 1st Prize in the Popular Music category and 2nd Prize in the Male Voice category. DGMC was honoured to be named RTÉ Lyric FM’s Carols for Christmas Community Choir winner in 2024. The choir has also participated in Various Voices (Munich 2018), Hand in Hand (Cardiff 2019), Various Voices (Bologna 2023), and Hand in Hand (Bristol 2024), and is thrilled to be attending Various Voices in Brussels in 2026.
Various Voices 2026 is an opportunity to connect with the wider international LGBT+ choral community, celebrate diversity through music, and proudly represent Ireland on a global stage. For the members of Dublin Gay Men’s Chorus, it’s more than just a festival — it reaffirms our values: inclusion, community, and expression. Having performed at previous Various Voices festivals, we know it is a safe space where we can both inspire and be inspired. It’s a chance to share our unique sound, grow as performers, and deepen the bonds of community that define who we are. We can’t wait to be there and see all of the other fantastic choirs.
