Barberfellas
The Barberfellas – or ‘Barbies’ for short – is an a capella and barbershop vocal ensemble from London, England. Since 2010 we have had the opportunity to perform and make friends all over the world. With close harmonies and irreverent performances we invite you to join us for a unique experience!
The Barbies got together in 2010 with a shared love of barbershop music. Meeting in each other’s living rooms and opening a bottle of wine before singing did wonders for our confidence. Today our vocal style includes jazz and other a capella songs, and the drinks come after rehearsal! We have performed all over the world, on the back of a bus to global stages. Highlights include Berlin, Black Rock City, Helsinki, Hong Kong, Lincoln, Mallorca, Manchester, Mumbai, Newcastle, Perugia, Reykjavik, Taipei, Trondheim and more. We love collaborating with other singing groups, sharing our music and learning about local queer lives and would love to perform with you. Come speak to us after the show!
The Barbies are so excited to be in Brussels! One of our members is Belgian, so it is like coming home for us. Various Voices expresses our community’s shared love of making music, overcoming prejudice and demonstrating solidarity while celebrating queer joy. Our first Various Voices performance was on the cabaret stage in Dublin 2014 and we attended Munich 2018 and Bologna 2023. Brussels is our fourth festival and we are looking forward to being entertained as well as entertaining you!
