amaryllis_berlin e.V.
The chamber choir amaryllis_berlin was founded in 2023 by the musical director Uta von Willert and singers together. We have dedicated ourselves to choral music from the Renaissance to classical modernism and contemporary works.
Since we started singing together only in 2023 we already perfomed in two big concert programs, one festival attendance and we enjoyed meeting up with several queer choirs in Berlin and Germany. Our weekly rehearsals, rehearsal days and weekends and separate vocal-group sessions are not only an opportunity to finetune our sound and grow musically, but also a time for community and exchange. Respect and discrimination-sensitive interactions are our focus: each individual contributes to ensuring that our choir develops into a safe space for everyone.
As a queer choir, it is particularly important to us to be visible and to set an example for tolerance and diversity with our music. At a Festival such as Various Voices we are thrilled to share this mutual understanding with so many other music enthusiasts. What we have known for a long time will be clear to all who hear us on these occasions: singing makes you happy!
